Assoc. Prof. Ivan Burić, PhD

Ivan Burić, PhD, was born in Dubrovnik in 1968. He graduated from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb. At the same faculty, he obtained his Master’s degree in 2001 and completed his PhD in 2010 with a dissertation in the sociology of consumption.

From 1994 to 2001, he worked as Director of the market research agency Studio Weber. From November 2001 to February 2014, he was employed as Research Director at Ipsos Puls, an agency specialising in public opinion, media, and market research. During his long-standing tenure at Ipsos Puls, he was responsible for developing research methodologies and for organising and implementing research projects in the areas of sociological and socio-economic research, public opinion, media, and financial market research. During this period, he participated in more than 500 research projects conducted for a wide range of Croatian and international institutions, organisations, and business entities.

From 2008 to 2013, he taught as an external associate at the Centre for Croatian Studies, University of Zagreb, within the Department of Communication Studies, where he taught the course Public Opinion and Media Market Research. Since February 2014, he has been permanently employed at the Centre for Croatian Studies, now the Faculty of Croatian Studies.

In addition to social research methodology, his main academic interests include the sociology of consumption, the sociological aspects of market communication, and economic sociology. Alongside his academic publications, he is the author of the book Nacija zaduženih (A Nation in Debt). He has participated in numerous academic and professional conferences in Croatia and abroad.
